Strengthened SWM supported through the project will (i) contribute to reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; (ii) improve environmental quality, circular economy, and ocean and public health; (iii) minimize flood risks; and (iv) support the livelihoods of women and low-income households living in informal settlements who depend on the circular economy. The project will (i) develop climate-resilient and sustainable solid waste infrastructure by constructing a new controlled landfill and rehabilitating the existing dump site; (ii) ensure the sustainability of SWM services by improving capacity for SWM service delivery and governance; and (iii) enhance waste reduction and the circular economy through improved recycling, community livelihood improvement, and awareness.
