NL-KVK-27378529-PST20FI03 Netherlands Enterprise Agency The Department of Agriculture of the Philippines seeks to establish a National Seed Technology Park (NSTP) at an agro-industrial hub being developed in New Clark City, Pampanga. The intention of the NSTP is to supplement the government's efforts to meet food security goals by improving the country's agricultural output through enhancement of the production chain that will result to affordable and accessible good quality seeds, which when combined with training on good agricultural practices will boost farm yield and improve farmer’s income.The NSTP will likewise cater to private sector development as it will become a concentration area for enterprises in the seed industry, as well as with research institutes to create a platform for scientific development and field demonstration. In addition, the NSTP will support local and foreign investors/locators and farmer cooperatives by providing physical infrastructure and services (e.g. gene bank, space for field demonstrations, laboratory testing etc).In recognising the Netherlands as a market leader of knowledge and innovation in the horticulture sector, the Philippine authority sought for a scoping mission with a team of Dutch experts led by Naktuinbouw to:1. Provide advice on setting-up appropriate facilities of NSTP in compliance to international standards;2. Provide assessment of the capacity buildings/trainings needed by NSTP personnel on seed standards, testing, accreditation and certification, etc;3. Provide an analysis of seed regulations with emphasis on Plant Variety Protection;4. Provide advice on setting up a seed database;5. Scope business opportunities for the Dutch private sector.
