NAFEZA-Zambézia Women's Associations Nucleusis a network that brings together about 67 Associations in Zambezia Province. It was created in 1997, with a vision of gender equality and social justice so that women have a dignified life with autonomy and freedom of choice. Since its inception, the Network has accumulated extensive work experience in promoting the rights of women and girls and in gender-based violence issues, which through mobilization actions throughcommunity dialogues, traditional and administrative leadership and, together with women, Men, girls and boys of different ages on conceptions of gender, gender-based violence, types of forms of violence, and on denunciation. is this project, the organisation willdo social mobilization to Community leaders, religious institutions, and influential people in the communities (midwives, traditional educators, among others) on the problematic of access to information related to SRHR in order to become proactive elements in thedeconstruction of negative social norms models based on beliefs about SRHR for adolescents, young people and women, in order to give rise to changes in behaviour and attitudes on the reproductive health. NAFEZA (Núcleo das Associações Femininas da Zambézia) is a Mozambican network organisation of women's organisations in Zambezia province. NAFEZA was founded by three organisations in 1997 and currently has 53 member organisations that work mainly in the areas of gender, prevention of HIV and AIDS, combating gender-based violence and promotion of human rights. NAFEZA is a member of the national network of women's organisations: Forum Mulher, another partner of Oxfam Novib. NAFEZA aims to be a strong network and represent civil society organisations to ensure the empowerment of women. The main objectives of NAFEZA are to reduce gender inequality and to improve the status of women through co-ordination and strengthening of civil society organisations in Zambezia province; to promote access to information, training and education of women; and to put pressure on government to adopt and implement measure for gender equality and women#s empowerment in their policies and programs.
