GB-GOV-13-GCRF-UKSA_SC_UKSA-046 DEPARTMENT FOR BUSINESS, ENERGY & INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY The aim is to use EO and other data sources to support SIDS in their transition from fossil fuel electricity generation to renewables by developing a proof-of-concept energy planning tool. SIDS are a group of developing countries facing specific social, The project aims to assess the feasibility (using EO data) of small island developing states to move away from fossil fuel and onto renewable energy as their primary power source. The project will use historic Earth Observation data combined with ground observations and weather models to develop a proof-of-concept energy planning tool � RE-SAT. This tool will support Small Island Developing States (focussing on the Seychelles in Phase 1) by providing economic and business case information to inform their transition from fossil fuel electricity generation to renewables.
