The target group is small to medium-sized private enterprises (SMEs) in Malawi beyond the start-up phase that want to make a shift towards greener products/services and production methods, as well as poor people in the population and women who will benefit from increased income through employment in the supported enterprises or along the selected value chains. Matching grant funding reduces the investment risk for SMEs. This provides investment incentives for private companies to innovate in environmentally sound, sustainable green products and processes. This contributes - in the short-term and also in the long-term - to the creation of jobs as well as, at the same time, to reducing the pressure on natural livelihoods. By defining impact-oriented criteria for project selection, the granting of subsidies is to be controlled in such a way that the subsidized investment has the greatest possible innovation potential and that disadvantaged population groups in particular (poor people as well as women and youth) benefit from it - e.g. through employment effects. Ziel des FZ-Moduls ist, dass Unternehmen des Privatsektors die Finanzierung über das Instrument Green Economic Transition Facility (GETF) nutzen, um in potenziell tragfähige, profitable, integrative und innovative grüne Geschäftslösungen (z. B. Produkte, Dienstleistungen, Produktion, Verarbeitung, Vertrieb) zu investieren, die kommerziell tragfähig und auf dem Weg zur Profitabilität sind und den Armen, Frauen und Jugendlichen zugutekommen. Zielgruppe sind kleine bis mittelständische Privatunternehmen (KMU) in Malawi jenseits der Start-up Phase, die einen Wandel hin zu grüneren Produkten/Dienstleistungen und Produktionsweisen vollziehen wollen sowie Armen in der Bevölkerung und Frauen, die durch Beschäftigung in den geförderten Unternehmen bzw. entlang der ausgewählten Wertschöpfungsketten von einem erhöhten Einkommen profitieren. Durch die anteilige Zuschussfinanzierung (Matching Grant) wird das Investitionsrisiko für KMU reduziert. Damit werden Investitionsanreize für die private Unternehmen gesetzt, um Innovationen in umweltgerechte, nachhaltige grüne Produkte und Prozesse zu fördern. Dies trägt - kurz- und auch langfristig - zur Schaffung von Arbeitsplätzen sowie zugleich dazu bei, den Druck auf die natürlichen Lebensgrundlagen zu vermindern. Durch Festlegung wirkungsorientierter Kriterien für die Projektauswahl soll die Gewährung der Zuschussmittel so gesteuert werden, dass von der geförderten Investition ein größtmögliches Innovationspotential ausgeht und insbesondere benachteiligte Bevölkerungsgruppen (arme Menschen sowie Frauen und Jugendliche) - z.B. über Beschäftigungswirkungen - hiervon profitieren.
