Building on the forthcoming Renewable Energy Feed-In Tariff (REFiT) Strategy to be launched by the Government of Zambia, the objective of the GET FiT program is to expedite the development of renewable energy IPPs with a combined installed capacity of 150 MW of renewable energy capacity.The program is developed in partnership between the Department of Energy and KfW, with support from the German Government. Round 1 of the program contains an auction for Solar PV (50 MW of capacity) to be followed with small hydro, cogeneration, biomass and potentially geothermal (Procurement Rounds 2 and 3 of the program, in total 100 MW of capacity).The programme contributes to a climate friendly development and growth path in Zambia. Kernproblem:Der Privatsektor ist derzeit nur wenig präsent im sambischen Energiesektor. ZESCO besitzt über 85% der installierten Erzeugungskapazitäten. Über 80% dieser basiert auf Großwasserkraftwerken. Insbesondere in trockenen Jahren wird die tatsächliche Produktion aufgrund der fehlenden Diversifikation im Energiemix eingeschränkt. Um die in den letzten Jahren stetig wachsende Nachfrage nach elektrischer Energie zu decken, sind signifikante Investitionen in die stark rehabilitierungsbedürftigen Übertragungs-, Verteilungsnetze und Erzeugungsanlagen notwendig, die nicht allein durch öffentliche Mittel aufzubringen sind. Insbesondere im Bereich der erneuerbaren Energien hat Sambia großes Potential vorzuweisen mit Blick auf Solar PV und (Klein-)Wasserkraft. Modulziel:Verbesserte Rahmenbedingungen für private Investitionen in netzgebundene erneuerbare Energien bis 20 MW, um einen Beitrag zu einer klimafreundlichen Entwicklung, zur Reduktion von THG-Emissionen und Armutsminderung zu leisten. Zudem unterstützt GET FiT Sambia die sambische Regierung bei der Umsetzung des Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariffs (REFiT).Wesentliche Outputs:Eine zusätzliche Erzeugungskapazität von bis zu 150 MW durch kleinere Anlagen erneuerbarer Energien. THG-Emissionen werden vermieden. Hebelung von privatem Kapital für Investitionen in erneuerbare Energien.Zielgruppe:Zielgruppe sind die derzeitigen und zukünftigen Stromkonsumenten in Sambia, die von dem zusätzlich verfügbaren, umweltfreundlichen und kostengünstigen Strom profitieren.Beitrag zur nationalen Umsetzung der Agenda 2030:Das FZ-Modul unterstützt die Agenda 2030 für nachhaltige Entwicklung und leistet einen Beitrag zu den Zielen SDG 7 (bezahlbare und saubere Energie), SDG 8 (menschenwürdige Arbeit und Wirtschaftswachstum), SDG 9 (Industrie, Innovation und Infrastruktur) sowie SDG 13 (Maßnahmen zum Klimaschutz).
