General
Investing and Financing Outcomes in Regional Ecosystems and Sustainable Trade (I-FOREST) addresses the overseas deforestation footprint of India and Vietnam as major importers of forest-risk commodities from tropical forest countries, focusing on the role of finance and financial institutions (FIs) and trade in driving cross-border deforestation and unsustainable forest use. The expected outcome is that FIs in India and Vietnam adopt and implement policies aligned with regulatory standards that incentivesustainable, gender-responsive and socially-responsible forest governance reforms. The impact is transformed forest governance for forest stewardship that includes fair and sustainable governance, investment and trade arrangements, and reduced risk for public and private forest investments and supply chains. Building on the highly successful Fair Finance Asia (FFA) programme, the project targets regulatory, policy, and practice change at national and FI levels through approaches including evidence-based engagement, capacity strengthening and awareness-raising. • The Banking Academy of Vietnam (BAV). Currently, BAV collaborates with Oxfam in Vietnam under the Fair Finance Vietnam project as part of the FFA network. As a well-established institution in thefields of education, training, and policy research within Vietnam’s finance and banking sector, BAV brings strong technical expertise and strategic networks to support the project’s goals. Together with OiV, BAV will deliver bank assessments and facilitates dialogue and engagement with the State Bank of Vietnam and FIs. The partnership with Oxfam will be governed by a grant contract. • Tropenbos Vietnam is a Vietnamese CSO working to improve the governance and management of tropical forested landscapesfor the benefit of people, biodiversity and the climate. It is a key member of the FORLAND coalition of CSOs dedicated to forest protection and sustainable land governance. As part of the FORLAND coalition, OiV has worked closely with Tropenbos to contribute to efforts on forest law reform, land rights and community-based forest management. With support from OiV, Tropenbos will implement the influencing work towards investors and regulators. The partnershipwith Oxfam will be governed by a grant contract.
