General
This project represents CIDA’s contribution to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility’s (FCPF) Carbon Fund. The FCPF is a World Bank-managed global partnership that assists developing countries in tropical and sub-tropical regions in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. It promotes forest conservation, sustainable management of forests and the enhancement of forest carbon stocks (amount of carbon stored in forest ecosystems). The Carbon Fund offers financial incentives to developing countries that implement emission reduction programs to reduce the rate of deforestation and forest degradation within their country.
