L'objectif du projet est de contribuer au développement socioéconomique, en sécurisant la disponibilité et l’accès à la ressource en eau pour la Tunisie à l’horizon 2050, de manière efficiente, équitable et durable, suivant une approche de gestion intégrée des ressources en eau.

The objective of the project is to contribute to socio-economic development by securing the availability of and access to water resources for Tunisia by 2050 in an efficient, equitable and sustainable manner, following an integrated water resources management approach.

Le Projet d'élaboration de la vision et de la Stratégie du secteur de l’eau à l’horizon 2050 pour la Tunisie (EAU 2050) consiste à doter le Gouvernement d’une vision et d’une stratégie à long terme, déclinées en plans d’action pour le développement et la gestion durable du secteur de l’eau. Il a été conçu afin de permettre une amélioration de la gouvernance des ressources en eau dans une vision de gestion intégrée et à long terme. Les principaux effets attendus du projet à moyen terme sont : l’adoption par le Gouvernement de la stratégie du secteur de l’eau à l’horizon 2050 pour la Tunisie, comme un référentiel unique d’intervention pour tous les acteurs et le financement des actions prioritaires des premiers plans d’action. Ce projet est parfaitement justifié et constitue une priorité pour le pays au regard : (i) de la situation actuelle du pays au-dessous du seuil du stress hydrique et du risque important de la dégradation de cette situation à l’horizon 2030 ; (ii) de la mobilisation quasi-totale du potentiel hydrique conventionnel du pays ; (iii) des obligations imposées par la nouvelle constitution du 26 janvier 2014. Le coût total du projet est de 2 655 000 euros, il sera co-financé par un don de la FAE pour un montant de 1 345 000 euros, soit 50,7 % du coût total. Les activités du projet s’articulent autour de trois composantes : (1) Elaboration de la vision et de la stratégie et des plans d’action de mise en œuvre ; (2) Assistance technique ; et (3) Gestion du projet et participation des acteurs.

The Project for the Development of the Vision and Strategy for the Water Sector in 2050 for Tunisia (UAE 2050) aims to provide the Government with a long-term vision and strategy, translated into action plans for the development and sustainable management of the water sector. It was designed to improve the governance of water resources within an integrated and long-term management vision. The main expected outcomes of the project in the medium term are: the adoption by the Government of the water sector strategy by 2050 for Tunisia, as a single intervention framework for all actors and the financing of the priority actions of the first action plans. This project is perfectly justified and constitutes a priority for the country in view of: (i) the current situation of the country below the threshold of water stress and the significant risk of its deterioration by 2030; (ii) the almost total mobilization of the country's conventional water potential; (iii) the obligations imposed by the new Constitution of 26 January 2014. The total cost of the project is €2,655,000, it will be co-financed by a grant from the AWF for an amount of €1,345,000, representing 50.7% of the total cost. The project activities are structured around three components: (1) Development of the vision and strategy and implementation action plans; (2) Technical assistance; and (3) Project management and stakeholder participation.

Les principaux bénéficiaires du projet sont : (i) les populations urbaines et rurales de la Tunisie (près de 10,8 millions d’habitants actuellement et 13 millions, environ à l’horizon 2050) ; (ii) les populations rurales du pays (près de 3,6 millions d’habitants , dont près de 240 000 habitants n’ont pas encore accès à l’AEP) ; (iii) les exploitants agricoles du pays (près de 250 000) et ; (iv) les opérateurs dans le domaine du tourisme, des services et de l’industrie.

The main beneficiaries of the project are: (i) Tunisia's urban and rural populations (currently nearly 10.8 million inhabitants and approximately 13 million by 2050); (ii) the country's rural populations (nearly 3.6 million inhabitants, of which nearly 240,000 inhabitants do not yet have access to the AEP); (iii) the country's agricultural operators (nearly 250,000) and (iv) operators in the fields of tourism, services and industry.
