La présente intervention est relative au Projet d’amélioration stratégique de l’alimentation en eau et de l’assainissement (SWSSIP). Le SWSSIP vise à améliorer la qualité et la prestation des services d’approvisionnement en eau et d’assainissement dans la ville de Juba, dans l’État de Jubek au sein de la région de l’Équatoria, et les services d’alimentation en eau et d’assainissement aux communautés rurales dans l’État de Jubek. Il entend développer des capacités en vue de renforcer la résilience dans un contexte de fragilité. Le projet va permettre, principalement, un accès plus équitable à un approvisionnement durable en eau, l’amélioration de la fonctionnalité du réseau d’alimentation en eau, l’amélioration de l’hygiène et de l’assainissement dans les zones rurales. Dans le domaine de l’assainissement, les interventions consisteront en la construction de 40 blocs de latrines publiques/institutionnelles et l’enseignement de l’hygiène dans les écoles et au sein des communautés de huit zones rurales cibles de l’État de Jubek, ce qui mettra un terme à d’éventuels problèmes de santé. Le projet comprend trois composantes, à savoir : (i) les infrastructures d’eau et d’assainissement, (ii) le renforcement des capacités institutionnelles et (iii) la gestion du projet.
The present intervention concerns the Strategic Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project (SWSSIP). SWSSIP aims to improve the quality and delivery of urban water supply services in Juba City, in Jubek State, within the Equatoria region and rural water supply and sanitation services to rural communities in Jubek State. It is a capacity development project to build resilience in a fragile environment. The project’s main outcomes are improved equitable access to sustainable water supply in the project area, improved water system functionality, and improved rural hygiene and sanitation. With regard to the sanitation interventions, schools and communities in 8 targeted rural areas of Jubek state will benefit from the 40 public/institutional latrines blocks and hygiene education to be constructed, thus eliminating health hazards. The project has three components, namely: (i) water and sanitation infrastructure, (ii) institutional capacity building and (iii) project management.
Target Groups
Le projet bénéficiera directement à environ trois cent mille (300 000) personnes à Juba et dans l’État rural voisin de Jubek.
The project will directly benefit approximately three hundred thousand (300,000) people in Juba and the neighboring rural state of Jubek.
Objectives
L’objectif du projet est d’améliorer la qualité de vie et la productivité dans la ville de Juba et au sein des communautés rurales voisines de l’État de Jubek à travers la fourniture de services d’eau et d’assainissement sûrs, suffisants et abordables.
The objective of the project is to improve the quality of life and productivity in Juba City and the surrounding rural communities of Jubek State through safe, adequate and affordable water supply and sanitation services.
