NL-KVK-27378529-PCB25ET02 Netherlands Enterprise Agency Export of cut flowers is vital for Ethiopia because of its positive socio-economic impact in terms of employment, income and much-needed foreign currency. The export of cut flowers from Ethiopia to the European Union (EU) as one of the key destination markets is, however, threatened by the so-called False Codling Moth (FCM). The EU considers this pest a serious quarantine organism that it needs to contain and for which exporting countries like Ethiopia are required to take strict control measures.With the support of the Netherlands, the Ethiopian Agricultural Authority (EAA) as the National Plant Protection Organisation in Ethiopia for phytosanitary matters, has already made significant progress in implementing the measures requested by the EU.This project aims to prepare the EAA to control this pest in a sustainable and self-reliant manner and to safeguard the access of Ethiopian roses to the EU market for the longer-term.
