Since several years Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) provides services to people living with disabilities in Palorinya in northern Uganda aimed at improving their mental health and socio-economic well-being. People living with disabilities are facing many challenges in the refugee settlements even under normal circumstances. With the current Covid-19 outbreak and lock down in Uganda the situation of these people have worsened. Therefore the project aims to 1) increase infection control measures amongst persons with disabilities and their families and 2) increase access to services to person with disabilities during the lockdown period. TPO closely coordinates their activities with the Covid-19 District Task Force.

Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) unterstützen seit langen Jahren Menschen mit Behinderungen in Palorinya Settelment in Nord Uganda, um deren psychische Gesundheit und ihre sozioökonomische Situation zu verbessern. Menschen, die mit Behinderungen leben, sind schon unter normalen Umständen stark benachteiligt, aber die Situation dieser Bevölkerungsgruppe hat sich in Zeiten von Covid-19 stark verschlechtert. Daher möchte TPO mit den beantragten Geldern in Zusammenarbeit mit der Covid-19 District Task Force erreichen, dass Infektionskontrollmaßnahmen für Menschen mit Behinderungen und deren Familien verbessert werden. Außerdem soll das Projekt einen besseren Zugang zu Service-Leistungen wie z.B. Gesundheitsversorgung für Menschen mit Behinderungen in Palorinya Settlement ermöglichen.
