Third-country nationals in vulnerable situations who no longer wish or are unable to remain in Germany are supported financially and logistically in returning to their country of origin or of habitual residence. The IOM follows a rights-based and migrant-centric approach in return and reintegration as per the principles set out in the IOM Policy on the Full Spectrum of Return, Readmission and Reintegration. Returnees identified as having special protection needs (e.g., people with health conditions or medical needs, unaccompanied and separated children, or victims of trafficking) receive tailored assistance according to their specific needs in order to support their successful and sustainable reintegration.This project is to be implemented within the new REAG/GARP 2.0 programme, implemented by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge – BAMF). The BAMF is responsible for receiving migrants’ applications for return from the applying entities (Antragsübermittelnde Stellen - AÜS), and for the initial screening and review of the eligibility for funding under the programme.
