The project aims to improve socio-economic well-being of internal migrants, through a comprehensive approach that encompasses data generation, evidence-based policymaking, and interventions on the ground. Three components of the project are designed to complement and reinforce each other - on the one hand, data will inform policies and interventions, and on the on other hand, lessons learnt on the ground will feed the policymaking. As effective management of internal migration requires multi-sectoral and multi-level cooperation involving both national and sub-national governments, the project will promote multi-stakeholder engagement and coordination, leveraging on potential contributions and strengths of respective actors. Policy dialogue and advocacy around internal migration, especially to mainstream migration perspective into policies and programs will be consistently undertaken using evidence, political economy and context analysis. To ensure sustainability of expected results, the project will promote participation and ownership by national stakeholders, strengthen respective capacities to continue initiated work beyond project's lifetime, anchor processes and tasks within relevant organizations, contextualize tools and approaches to better meet local realities, and use existing systems. Coordination and synergies with relevant projects will be also promoted to maximize sustainability chances, efficiency and overall impact.
