The objective of this project is to contribute to the development of improved evidence-based migration management policies and responses through an enhanced understanding of migration and mobility patterns of refugees and migrants in Turkey. Continuation of research and data collection activities related to migration in Turkey remains very crucial and relevant to ensure that the counterparts clearly understand the extent and nature of the flows to Turkey and/or Europe. It also enables Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) and Provincial Directorates of Migration Management (PDMM) to internalize IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) methodology for tracking migrant flows, collecting evidence-based data from the field on profiles, needs and intentions as well as translating the data into policies. In order to realize this objective, IOM is conducting a research activity in order to fill information gaps and support DGMM for utilizing evidence-based findings and policy recommendations through a workshop with involvement DGMM/PDMM experts, IOM experts and the academia.
