DESCRIPTION
Over the last years and particularly as a consequence of camp consolidation and closure processes, the humanitarian context in Iraq has shifted significantly. With only a few formal camps remaining, the focus for essential humanitarian assistance is shifting to internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in situations of protracted displacement and of high vulnerability in remaining camps, in informal settlements and to returnees living in hotspots of severe living conditions. Adapting to the diverse needs of the different affected populations, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is providing comprehensive multi-sectoral humanitarian assistance in remaining formal camps, in underserved informal displacement sites and other vulnerable out-of-camp locations, in addition to continue gradually preparing for an exit strategy through capacitating governmental and non-governmental organizations to provide quality, principled humanitarian assistance to affected populations. This consists of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) services to remaining formal camps outside of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) as well as in underserved informal displacement sites; multi-purpose cash assistance; critical shelter support; primary and emergency healthcare services; mental health and psychosocial support; and essential protection services to vulnerable populations in camps and out-of-camp locations.
