IOM and Care for Children and Old age in South Sudan (CCOSS) seek to provide multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA) to individuals affected by the recent sub-national violence and flooding in Abyei Administrative area, Twic county in Warrap State, Aweil East County, Fangak and Pigi/canal counties in Jonglei State, South Sudan. According to Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) 2023, a total of 9.4 million people are estimated to need humanitarian assistance. Over half of South Sudan's population is experiencing a high level of acute food insecurity. All project target locations fall in Emergency Phase (IPC- Phase 4) and are likely to deteriorate further. The project interventions focus on the distribution of cash to address the urgent needs of the crisis-affected communities. Furthermore, it aims to contribute to improving the resilience of the target population by providing them with resources to meet their urgent needs based on their own priorities. Additionally, the assistance is helping scaling-up cash programming in the country as well boosting the local economies.
