The project aims to support social cohesion and peaceful cohabitation between displaced populations and local communities by supporting community economic opportunities and environmental sustainability activities for returnees to Burundi and local communities. The project will place particular emphasis on women and young people, in order to raise the economic capacity of the target region and reduce associated tensions in communities, and will be a catalyst for the implementation of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDPN or triple nexus) to capture the links between the three elements by supporting repatriation (humanitarian), sustainable reintegration and monitoring of movements (development) and social cohesion (peace). The activities will be implemented in Kirundo province (Busoni and Bugabira communes) and Muyinga province (Giteranyi and Muyinga communes) and will reach 1,790 direct beneficiaries.
