The humanitarian context in Iraq has evolved in the past years following the official end of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant crisis in December 2017. The post-conflict period has seen the gradual return of over 4.8 million people to their areas of origin. Since then, Iraq has been facing multiple overlapping crises resulting from the years of violent conflict, which have led to protracted displacement. Through this project, the International Organization for Migration is providing targeted assistance to internally displaced persons in protracted displacement, in need of continued humanitarian assistance and facing complex barriers to return in the Jeddah 1 in the Ninewa Governorate. The Organization continues to support the Government of Iraq in providing targeted assistance to repatriated Iraqi families from Al Hol to Jeddah 1 in line with minimum humanitarian standards and support in addressing their barriers to return.
