The project, focuses on implementing stage I of the Kigali HFC Implementation Plan (KIP) to help Uruguay achieve a 10% reduction in its HFC baseline consumption by January 1, 2029. The total cost of stage I is US $367,250, including US $219,190 for UNDP (plus US $28,495 in agency support costs) and US $105,810 for UNIDO (plus US $13,755 in agency support costs). The first tranche of US $216,759 will cover activities from December 2024 to December 2027, with US $141,887 for UNDP (plus US $18,445 in support costs) and US $49,935 for UNIDO (plus US $6,492 in support costs). The project#s primary focus is to achieve the 2024 freeze on HFC consumption and a 10% reduction by 2029. Key activities include reducing demand for HFCs, strengthening institutional capacity for compliance with the Kigali Amendment, promoting the safe use of alternatives to HFCs, ensuring proper use of HFC-based equipment, and enhancing monitoring systems.
