General
The Economic Research Forum is a strategic partner of IDRC in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It hosts an annual conference that concentrates on issues relevant to economic policy in the region. The most recent conference, held in Rabat, Morocco, from April 21-23, 2024, had as its theme “Tragedies of Regional Conflicts and Promises of Peacebuilding: Responding to Disruptors and Enablers of MENA Development Pathway.” This flagship event draws on the contributions of senior policymakers, high-profile academic researchers and a refereed open call for papers. The conference provides a platform to promote region-wide scholars and international thought leaders’ interaction; to showcase innovative evidence-based development research by promising researchers; and to encourage public policy discussions to inform policy processes. IDRC sponsorship of and participation in this high-level conference aims to further the Centre’s strategic positioning in the region’s research-for-development sphere, highlighting IDRC’s contributions and strengthening its reputation in this area.
