This is a two-week course designed to provide students assigned to Flight Safety Officer (FSO) positions with a working knowledge of aviation mishap prevention. The course graduate is capable of administrating an aircraft mishap prevention program to include: Bird/wildlife aircraft strike hazard (BASH), midair collision avoidance (MACA), hazardous air traffic reports (HATRs), hazard reporting, inspections, airfield safety, Air Force Safety Automated System (AFSAS) queries, awards, disaster response, deployed safety, as well as philosophies and an understanding of the safety organizational hierarchy/philosophies. The course places Risk Management at the center of establishing a safety culture and addresses concepts, methodologies and best practices in the area of Risk Management, while providing how-to instruction in applying primary and select RM tools and techniques. IEASPM brings together aviation safety professionals from across NATO and PfP, standardizing tactics, techniques and procedures across the Alliance while building a common cadre of aviation safety professionals.
