Work undertaken during this grant period will finalize the design of the Results-Based Protection Learning Network, and secure the commitments from participating organizations as well as donor contributions to fund the activities of the Learning Network. The Learning Network is expected to further catalyze implementation, documentation of case studies and learning gained through this process, and dissemination of results-based approaches, and ultimately increasing uptake of results-based protection across the humanitarian system. InterAction will seek to maintain the momentum to disseminate and promote policies which have been adopted by the humanitarian system to facilitate collective protection outcomes through ‘whole-of-system’ approaches to protection. As these new inter-agency and system-wide policies incorporate insight from InterAction’s work on results-based protection, InterAction is well-positioned to ensure that efforts to continually build the methods and approaches to achieve protection outcomes also support their more systematic use in practice. In addition, InterAction seeks to ensure an informed U.S. policy discourse as a means to help minimize harm to civilians arising from U.S. military operations and policy. As the policies and practices of the new U.S. administration become apparent, InterAction will convene timely and relevant dialogue on critical issues, promote international humanitarian law, and promulgate practical measures to ensure that civilians are spared from the worst effects of armed conflict.
