General
Fair Finance International (FFI) is a global network of over 100 civil society organizations, coordinated by Oxfam Novib. The aim is to strengthen financial institutions' commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance-related issues (ESG), transparency and other aspects related to human rights. The intervention should contribute to reduced poverty, promote human rights, gender equality and the environment in the Global South. FFI's work is structured around the Fair Finance Guide Methodology (the guide), which is a method for assessing and comparing financial institutions' investment policies from the ESG perspective. The guide functions as a tool for measuring changes (over time and between institutions) with the intention of creating incentives for a "race to the top", i.e. improving investment policy based on the ESG perspective should be seen as a competitive advantage.
