- LGBTI rights holders (individuals and organizations) are more empowered to enjoy their human rights in a conducive environment
Empowerment for LGBTQI community was supplied in two instances. The partners Kaos GL and May 17 Association has carried on building the capacities of LGBTQI organisations on administration, finance, legal compliance, communication, fund raising, and crisis management. The Rainbow Project has served as cementing the Partners to serve as a knowledge hub and act as mentors thereby fostering to the resilience of the LGBTQI community to stand together with increased competencies. 89 LGBTQI organizations benefited from the empowerment program.
The psychosocial, legal, and well-being support services provided by May 17 provided social support to LGBTQI individuals who under the current conditions are more prone to violence, decay in well-being and the effects of being constantly under target. 1575 psychosocial, 677 legal, and 2018 well-being, 1221 social services support supplied to LGBTQI individuals totalling a number of 4870 consultancies. 918 of these services were supplied to refugee LGBTQI individuals.
- Improved protection and promotion of LGBTI rights by key duty-bearers including government at local and central levels and legislators
Limitation on the result area directed the Partners to focus on engaging with international and local actors. Kaos GL contributed to the UN Special Rapporteurs' reports, with five shadow reports submitted in 2023. Partners contributed to a municipality's inclusive gender equality plan with hope that it will serve as an example for advancing inclusive policies and services local services.
- Judiciary demonstrates responsibility & accountability for providing justice for LGBTI rights holders
Kaos GL has initiated or supported 14 legal cases, targeting hate speech, discrimination, and freedom of assembly. Kaos GL has prioritized capacity building initiatives aimed at enhancing the legal knowledge and skills of lawyers and legal practitioners, 30 events were held 909 participants benefited from these trainings. The publication of the "Guidelines for Lawyers for their Communication with LGBTQI Clients" is also an important output of the project.
- Private sector improves protection of LGBTI rights and protection from discrimination
Kaos GL has been promoting LGBTQI inclusion within Turkey's private sector. Situation of LGBTQI Employees in Private Sector" report published annually in collaboration with Kadir Has University. Kaos GL also produces a report on LGBTQI employees in the public sector. The reports provide insights into the challenges faced by LGBTQI employees in the workplace. 13 companies approached to Kaos GL and May 17, 34 consultancies were provided to private sector.
- Independent media and LGBTI media sustain the scope of rights-based journalism regarding LGBTI rights and equality
Kaos GL.org has been serving as the main LGBTQI news outlet in the country. The Partners have published a total of 27383 articles in the three years project term. Number of hits of different visitors to Kaos GL.Org 4 880 562 hits, 4 466 802 different visitors. Kaos GL has 41.4k followers on Instagram and 46k followers on Twitter at the end of this project year. Enabling the visibility of LGBTQI issues.
- Key stakeholders act as stronger allies to protect and promote LGBTI rights
Kaos GL and May 17 have consistently engaged a diverse network of stakeholders, including academics, artists, mental health professionals, educators, and human rights groups, by holding cultural event and supplying training to professionals to uphold LGBTQI rights.
