The aim of the Surgical Training Programme is to increase the level of surgical skilled healthcare staff at district hospitals in Sierra Leone. By training community health officers and state registered nurses for the country’s district hospitals, the project intends to fulfill the gap and increase the ability of medical staff to handle the most common surgical and obstetrical emergencies that without treatment would lead to disability or death.
