Mozambique landscape media entails mainstream media, on-line media and community radios. The current initiative focus on the latter which serves district level reporting with national and local content. There are 140 community radios to date in the country, some of which publicly owned and others are private and community owned. The Project focus on the latter which provides alternative, diversified, more independent contents and access to information. The aim will be to promote human rights and democracy through support to selected community radios, as key independent and free outlets, promotion of digital inclusion digital literacy and digital innovation with focus on youths. Goal:community radios and young people are empowered to ensure that their communities - women, people with disabilities, young and youths - are better informed and able to improve their quality of life, defend their rights, and participate in governance process. Objectives (i) support and increase skills of community radio journalis (ii) increase professionalism, digitalisation, and sustainability of community radios (iii) develop young peoples´s skills to enable them to take up media, communication, and social development roles in their communities with focus on digital engagement and solutions.
