Get Up Speak Out alliance (GUSO): This alliance consists of Rutgers, dance4life, Simavi, International Planned Parenthood Federation,STOP AIDS NOW!, CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality, in a partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The GUSO programme addresses the following problem; Young people do not claim their sexual rights and their right to participation because of restrictions at community, societal, institutional and political levels. This hinders their access to comprehensive SRHR education and services that match their needs, and ability to make their own informed SRHR decisions. To address this problem the GUSO programme uses a multicomponent approach in which it links (i) provision of sexuality education and information, (ii) provision of quality, youth-friendly SRH services and (iii) building support for youth SRHR, by addressing socio-cultural and political barriers in terms of practices, norms and policies. CHOICE aims to empower young people to increasingly voice their rights, meaningfully involve young people in all stages of organizations and program, strengthen the capacity of youth-led organizations to become sustainable, and encourage, capacitate and empower youth advocates to advocate for their sexual and reproductive rights at local, national and international level.

The long-term objectice of GUSO is: All young people, especially girls and young women, are empowered to realise their SRHR in societies that are positive towards young people’s sexuality. The GUSO Theory of Change consists of 5 Interrelated outcomes ot reach the long-term objective: 1. Strengthened and sustainable alliances 2. Empowered young people voice their rights 3. Increased use of SRHR information and education 4. Increased use of youth-friendly SRHR services 5. Improved socio-cultural and legal environment

Young people aged (10-24) are both the actors and beneficiaries of the GUSO programme
