Endero B.V. and Interdarm-Ulaanbaatar Co. Ltd will create a joint venture, which will establish a casings processing plant for green and white runners that is in accordance with the European requirements and regulations. The runners will be cleaned, selected, measured, tubed, salted, packed and stored.The casings industry needs to be changed in order to secure its future existence. There are a lot of requirements of the European Union when it comes to food safety. Therefore, this facility will be HACCP certified.Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)Good working conditions and the proper training will be provided. The work environment will be conform the EU standard. HACCP will be implemented and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be conducted.Impact• Employment and working conditionsThe staff members will receive at least a wage of 80% above the current minimum wage or an average wage for the sector. The company wants to offer employees fringe benefits: one month of paid vacation and working 5 days instead of 6.Further, employees will receive a health insurance, other social charges, transportation from and to work in the winter, day care for the children, a safe working environment, a warm meal a day. All workers receive training.• Innovation / Transfer of knowledgeThe knowledge with regard to production of casings according to EU regulations is new for Mongolia.• Chain effectsThis project will have a positive effect on the chain. Both suppliers of green runners (slaughterhouses) and suppliers of white runners will be subcontractors of the joint venture. All suppliers will be assisted by the joint venture in several ways:- They are explained how to improve their working conditions.- The joint venture supplies them with support materials.• Impact on the sectorAll raw casings will be procured by local abattoirs, trades and suppliers. The Mongolian Natural Casing Association will also be supported by the know-how of the project. The applicant has a strong desire to stop the illegal transports to China. It creates a sustainable sector with the introduction of HACCP.• EnvironmentImpact on the environment is neutral. During processing the partners only use water and salt. There is no chemical pollution at all. The waste water will be cleaned before added to the public sewage system.• Position of womenThe project will hire 45 women. They will perform all types of jobs. It is expected that also the 2 new assistant-masters, the assistant accountant and 1 quality manager will be female.• Impact on food safetyThere is no effect on food stability.• Impact on waterThere is no effect on the availability of water.
