The ETF has supported the ambition of CDER to become an accredited organisation for certification of solar installations. TNO has provided training, workshops and on-the-job coaching to this aim. The project ‘Assistance to the laboratory accreditation of the Renewable Energy Development Centre (CDER) in Algeria for solar energy installations’ was developed to improve the quality control of solar equipment within Algeria, in order to ensure both the profitability of investments and a positive image of this technology. In order to contribute to these overall goals, ETF and the beneficiary CDER designed a project that would enable CDER to become an accredited institute for certification and quality control of solar installations.CDER is a Governmental Agency, under the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, established in 1959 with the mission)to enhance the use of Renewable Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency Applications, among others by improving their performance.CDER already possesses a high quality testing laboratory for solar installations and the accreditation will strengthen their position as a recognized agency for certification and quality control significantly.The project consisted of an initial workshop in Algiers; a staff training in The Netherlands, and a period of on-the-job coaching.On the Dutch side, the project was implemented by TNO-ECN. 2 Staff members of TNO-ECN went to Algiers to determine and discuss the state of affairs and detailed information need. The 5-day training took place at the ECN premises in Petten. 6 staff members of CDER took part. Both the workshop, training and coaching were highly valued by the participants. A follow-up is planned for 2020.
