General
The Bird Control Group (BCG) wants to convince Peruvian farmers and food processing companies in Peru through a demonstration project added value of the laser technology developed by BCG itself to combat bird pests. Unlike current ones methods, such as the use of chemical agents, the laser technology of BCG is human, environmental and animal friendly. The laser technology can keep (agricultural) areas completely autonomous. The laser is not for the human eye perceptible, but comes across to birds as a physical threat and thus activates the birds' survival instinct. As the laser is present in a marked area for a longer period of time, the birds will consider the area unsafe and avoid this area. The laser has a range of up to 2,500 meters. To be effective and safe on both large and small distances, it is extremely important that the pointing of the laser beam is accurate. For that reason the system has a positioning, monitoring, and correction system (PMCS) of military precision. The PMCS includes, among other things, optical encoders, a self-calibration system and micro stepper motors. In addition to the PMCS, the system also includes a patented Horizon Safety System (HSS). This system ensures ensure that the laser beam is switched off if it exceeds a certain angle, for example for safety reasons. In addition to the built-in safety system, there is also a built-in maintenance system preventing system downtime. This system monitors the use of the system, and in particular the critical and essential system components. The system actively informs the user when maintenance is required and when parts need to be replaced before the system actually breaks down. The laser is set up in the target area and by means of two electric motors that are controlled by (self-developed) software, the laser covers the area autonomously and dynamically. Especially the dynamic nature is important, as this prevents habituation in the birds. The autonomous aspect makes the system non-labour-intensive and ensures that (agricultural) land can be kept free of birds 24/7, without human intervention. For landowners with large, often remote, plots of land, this is an ideal solution. The products that BCG wants to demonstrate in Peru:• AVIX Autonomic GEN 2: fully automatic bird chase system (newest product).• Unique selling points of BCG technology.• Human, environmental and animal-friendly technology.• Cheaper, more effective and safer than alternative methods.• More efficient production of crops, good for the international competitive position of farmers.• Perfect connection to (international) human and environmental guidelines.• Reduction of negative side effects, because chemistry, noise or exclusion is no longer used.
