PARTICIPATING ORG REFERENCE ROLE TYPE
LFTU is the only national trade union federation in Laos across all sectors. For this programme they will work with 130 local tradeunions in the agri-food sector (food processing, super markets, plantations and food vending), spread over 13 provinces all over the country, totalling 4.470 union members by the end of the programme, of which 60 % women. LFTU will contribute to all results of this outcome. They will organize more agri-food workers into grassroots unions and workers’ groups, build the capacity of their leaders, both in formal and informal sectors to engage effectively in collective bargaining for better working conditions and will advocate for improving policies for better protection of marginalized workers, this in line with their nationalmandate to represent the members in the tripartite dialogues. They will challenge labour inequality in the food system, ensuring decent work that covers fair wages and OSH, as well as access to social protection measures.

General
The Lao Federation of Trade Unions (LFTU) is a mass organization and the only national trade union federation in Laos across all sectors. It is a long-term partner of Oxfam on labour rights and social protection. For this programme they will play a key role as the national government partner signing the MOU with Oxfam, and to facilitate programme management by working closely with the PTUs and CSO partners. The Provincial Trade Unions (PTUs) under LFTU will act as provincial coordinators, working closelywith the CSOs partners. They are mandated with ensuring the active involvement and buy-in of provincial and district governmental stakeholders, as well community representatives, in the planning and implementation, including the identification of the mostmarginalized groups. The PTUs will furthermore ensure legal compliance is met during programme implementation.
