North-east Rural Development (NRD) is provincial based non-governmental organization in Kratie province. It is working in all its target villages located along the Mekong River. Its commitment is to build the capacity for people including indigenous communities (Kouy and Phnong) to improve the way of managing the water and dealing with water issues for better livelihoods.

NRD is a provincial-based organization, was established by former staff of Oxfam Australia after it phased out project interventionin 2012. NRD has experienced implementing various projects in disaster management, water governance and community fisheries resource management in the lower Mekong in Kratie province. NRD has significant experiences of working in partnership with Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and ChildFund Cambodia for implementing disaster management, disaster riskreduction and climate change adaptation projects in the Mekong. NRD is a member of CHF and it was selected as a member technical working group on provincial contingency plan of Kratie province. TNRD is a current IP2 and long-term Oxfam partner. NRD is a member of the Cambodia Humanitarian Forum (CHF) and has strong DRM and CCA experience including provision of training for NGosd, communitiesand DMCs from the commune to national levels. NRD is a member of the technical working group for the provincial contingency plan inKratie Province. Through this project, NRD will work in one commune on the Mekong mainstream in Kratie Province with 3 existing community groups (600 people including 432 women). Key activities include coordination with sub-national DRM structures (PDMC, DDMC, CDMC) to implement contingency plans; capacity strengthening to use Hazard, Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment (HVCA) tools; training and awareness raising on climate change and disaster risk management; support development and implementation of of contingency plans; increase community access to hydrological data to inform DRM plans; promote gender equality and women humanitarian leadershipin DRM; collaborate with RUA to promote Climate Smart Agriculture and livelihood strategies; engage with sub-national, national andregional networks for water data sharing.
