The overall objective of the project is to influence both private sector and the government for effective policy practices and enforcement to ensure entitlement to decent work and gender equality at work in the tuna wild catch and processing sector in Vietnam through research/evidenced based advocacy and selective demonstrations. The decent work aspects of the project focus include rights to employment contract with coverage of social and health insurances, safe and healthy working environment, and legitimate benefits to women workers. Specific objectives of the project are as follows: - Fisherfolks and workers, particularly women workers have improved knowledge of their legitimate rights to decent work and gender equality at work; - The government and private sector have improved understanding of the current situation, practices, and policy gaps in ensuring entitlement to decent work of the workers; - The government and private sector are provided with advisory supports in their design of appropriate policies and on-the-ground implementation on decent work and gender equality at work. In order to achieve the project objectives, the project is designed to achieve three outcomes as follows: - Tuna fisherfolks and processing workers have improvedknowledge and enjoyed legitimate rights to decent work and gender equality at work - National government and tuna private sector have improved knowledge and support for buy-in of the project recommendations - Asian regional seafood CSO alliances and networks are empowered for learning and collective influencing actions The project is designed based on a belief that private sector and Vietnamese government who are under high pressure from demanding seafood import markets will be more convinced to practice and replicate at scale the sustainable and responsible production, business, and supply chain management if they are provided with successful cases developed based on evidenced research and on-the-grounddemonstrations, and capacity improvement supportin the implementation. Oxfam in Vietnam is responsible for general coordination, project management, and contributing to advocacy and influencing activities within the project
