Centre for Social Initiatives Promotion (CSIP) is a leading Vietnam-based, not-for-profit organization working to promote social and environmental changes by building a social entrepreneurship movement in Vietnam. It targets social enterprises, inclusivebusinesses, civil society organizations and other private/public institutions in Vietnam and the region to support them with research, training, advice and networking to improve their knowledge and skills on social enterprising. CSIP also works and engages with other stakeholders to improve the enabling environment for social enterprises in general. CSIP#s Vision: is for social entrepreneurship to be developed as a critical field that helps to address social and environmental issues and promote social equity and sustainable development in Vietnam. CSIP#s Mission: To support social enterprises by investing directly in their development and by building an enabling environment for growing social entrepreneurship in Vietnam. CSIP is led by its Board of Trustees - the highest authority of the Center to ensure that CSIP achieves its objectives effectively and sustainably. The Board of Trustees supports CSIP in terms of legal compliance and advocacy, financial resources optimization and representation as withthe community and stakeholders. CSIP was established in 2008 (License A-764 dated on 10 October 2008) in response to the gradual emergence of organizations that were seeking to adopt entrepreneurial solutions to the social and environmental challenges existing in Vietnam and the South East Asian region. CSIP has gradually moved forwards to become a non-profit social enterprise itself by becoming a service hub for social enterprises and social investors in Vietnam. Since 2009, CSIP has provided businesssupport, capacity building and seeding capital to 72 social organizations and social enterprises which directly empowered and improved the quality of healthcare, education, and lives of 17,220 people and 205,000 people have benefitted more generally fromtheir programs and activities through its signature program # Social Enterprises Support Program (SESP). In 2014, thanks to support from IrishAid, CSIP has launched a flanking scheme of Innovating Civil SocietyOrganizations (ICSO) Program to provide tailor-made supports relevant to Civil Society Organizations aiming to convert to social enterprises Relationship with Oxfam Novib Under the pilot Impact Investments Program which was implemented by Oxfam Novib in 3 countries (Vietnam, Uganda and Nigeria)in 2014 and 2015, CSIP was partner for Oxfam in Vietnam. CSIP was responsible for mapping 50 suitable SMEs for the program, performing organisational capacity assessment for 10 SMEs and coordinating trainings and business skill coaching for 7 SMEs. Activities under the new GSRD project is similar to CSIP#s work for the pilot Impact Investments Program.

This project works with impact-driven SMEs in the agriculture value chains that are creating social impact to SSPs. The project targets those SMEs that want to improve their business management, are eager to pursue sustainable production methods, want toimprove quality monitoring of their supply chain and want to use technology for traceability of their products. The project aims to: 1) support SMEs to improve their business management for sustainable development by giving training and tailored businessdevelopment services (BDS); 2) support SMEs to prepare for accessing investments (impact investors or conventional capital providers) to scale their business; 3) pilot application of advanced technology on quality monitoring and product traceability with SMEs and SSPs 4) contribute to enforcement of favourable conditions / policies for impact-driven SMEs in Vietnam Regarding CSIP, CSIP has been working with Oxfam in the Enterprising for Development (EFD) Project since 2014, it was responsible for selecting SMEs and engaging consultants to provide business development support to more than 40 SMEs. In this EFD Phase 2, CSIP will be responsible for providing BDS support toSMEs and SSP groups, general trainings for SMEs and SSP groups on business management. CSIP will provide support for development of marketing plan, business plan for business scaling and it will also facilitate the market linkage between SSP groups, SMEs and retailers.
