Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) is a pan-African, membership civil society organization and resource centre that promotes the right of access to information (RTI) and freedom of expression (FoE) across Africa through comparative research, capacity strengthening, technical support to national advocacy as well as leading continental and global advocacy, monitoring treaty compliance and implementation, facilitating information-sharing and network development. AFIC has 39 civil society organisational members in 23 African countries. It has Observer Status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples# Rights (ACHPR) and is a member of theCSO Joint Steering Committee of the partnership on human rights and democratic governance of African-European Union partnership. Ithosts the Freedom of Information Advocates Network (FOIAnet), Uganda Contracts Monitoring Coalition and is member to International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), Africa Freedom of Expression Exchange (AFEX), AfricanPlatform on Access to Information (APAI)Working Group, International Alliance for Natural Resources in Africa (IANRA) and is active in promoting African civil society engagement in the Open Government Partnership in Africa. In 2015, AFIC was appointed to the African Group of Experts to develop Indicators for the first 10 years of the African Union Agenda 2063. ON THE FINANACE FOR DEVELOPMENT PROJECT: AFIC is leading the implementation of Fiscal transparency and Accountability initiatives on the F4D Project. Specifically this involves the following: PromotingAccess to Information; Open contracting; Monitoring social sector contracts; Anti-corruption fight by working closely with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Asset Authority; advocacy on Auditor General findings. etc. AFIC works closely with other F4D national partners and the subnational partners on the F4D project.

Africa Freedom of Information Centre (AFIC) is a pan-African civil society organisation and resource centre that strives to become a reliable, dependable and all-round freedom of information support center. Their focus is on promoting good governance through access to information. Africa Freedom of Information Centre's role on the SP-F4D Project: AFIC shall lead SP-F4D project Financing forDevelopment's Influencing on fiscal transparency and accountability; AFIC will enhanced fiscal accountability and transparency through meaningful civic participation, access to information and public scrutiny especially for women and young people. This will be achieved through; (i) Strengthening civil society capacity to support citizens specifically women and young people to demand for fiscal accountability (ii) Strengthening capacity of accountability structures and platforms to effectively execute their mandate. (iii) Improving proactive disclosure and citizens access to information among women and young people. AFIC will work jointly with other F4D partners to deliver the project's fiscal justice mandate at subnational level, National level and will generate evidences tosupport Oxfam global level influencing on Fiscal transparency and Accountability.
