General
Prime Diamond Initiative for Community Development is a community based organization that is focused on community health <(>&<)> education of women. The proposed project seeks to address the perpetual challenge of menstrual hygiene management. This will be achieved by developing a social enterprise model where the local community (women <(>&<)> girls) will be empowered by the implementing Organisation through skills training and empowerment program to produce low cost biodegradable menstrual pads which will be distributedto women/girls. This comprises of various parameters focused on achieving SDG goals 1,2,3,4,5 and 8 such as reduced poverty, zero hunger, promoting good health and wellbeing, quality education, gender equality, sanitation, decent work and economic growth etc. Women#s health and hygiene is a major concern globally. The awareness on menstrual hygiene management is virtually lacking in marginalised areas. This can lead to chronic reproductive and vaginal infections, infertility, STD/HIV, cervical cancer, and unwanted pregnancy which sometimes leads to mortality due to illegal abortion as some girls are forced to engage in transactional sex to enable themafford pads
