Institute for Criminal Justice Refo
The Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) is an independent research institute established in 2007. ICJR focuses on criminal law and justice reform, and general law reform in Indonesia. ICJR takes initiative by providing support in the context of establishing respect for the Rule of Law and at the same time establishing a fervent human rights culture in criminal justice system. ICJR has three major programs: research and advocacy, training, and strategic litigation. We have built our capacity on criminal policy research. ICJR actively has a major role in the reformation of criminal policy in Indonesia. ICJR regularly provides advice for both government and parliament as an input into proposed policy. ICJR is also involved in several litigation cases both of direct litigation (as a party at trial) or indirect litigation (amicus curiae/ friend of the court). All work carried out by ICJR is aimed towards supporting criminal policy in Indonesia in order to keep it in line with the protection ofhuman right principles and rule of law frameworks

General
The National Alliance for Penal Code Reform (The National Alliance) has succeeded in advocating changes to the proposed Penal Code Reform Bill/Rancangan KUHP (RKUHP). The Bill however, still contains many problematic formulations that will lead to overcriminalisation and discrimination. The process has also been dominated by "masculine" criminal law experts who lack understanding of other peoples# experiences. Postponing the passage of RKUHP is a strategic opportunity to ensure that the discussion be carried out more inclusively. This project aims to ensure that the upcoming discussions and consultations on RKUHP is more inclusive through increased participation of civil society. Through this project, the National Alliance # Monitors government discussions on RKUHP # Researches and writes updated policy briefs based on those discussions # Coordinate and facilitate consultations between members and stakeholders for constructive engagements # Produce campaign materials for online and offline advocacy # Organise seminars on RKUHP in select cities
