Oxfam Novib Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations working together in more than 90 countries. Oxfam International was formed in 1995 by a group of independent non-governmental organizations. Their aim was to work together for greater impact on the international stage to reduce poverty and injustice. The name "Oxfam" comes from the Oxford Committee for Famine Relief, founded in Britain in 1942. The group campaigned for food supplies to be sent through an allied naval blockade to starving women and children in enemy-occupied Greece during the Second World War.As well as becoming a world leader in the delivery of emergency relief, Oxfam International implements long-term development programs in vulnerable communities. We are also part of a global movement, campaigning with others, for instance, to end unfair trade rules, demand better health and education services for all, and to combat climate change. Today, there are 17 member organizations of the Oxfam International confederation. They are based in: Australia, Belgium, Canada,France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Ireland, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Quebec, Spain and the United States. The Oxfam International Secretariat is based in Oxford, UK. The Secretariat runs advocacy offices in Brussels, Geneva, New York, Washington DC and Brasilia. The program aims to contribute to the challenge and the national effort to restore peace and stability in Mali desired by all people, especially those from 22 municipalities in the regions of Timbuktu and Gao, Mopti and Segou of more 700 000 people. The levers used in this program for a significant impact are improving local governance and strengthening groups of citizens, especially youth, to participate in political, socio-economic and cultural activities of their communities. Overall goal: # Sustaining a movement (culture) of citizens active and involved in governance, peace and social justice, economic and political 1.1. The program objectives The program will pursue the achievement of the following three specific objectives: # To help improve political participation and performance checks and citizens (young men and women) for accountable and transparent governance by the authorities (state, local andtraditional); # Support the socio-economic development of young people and women by spaces and devices vocational training, supportfor employment, entrepreneurship and securing peasant farming; # Contribute to install and maintain a culture of peace and social cohesion in local companies by local mechanisms for conflict resolution and management of natural resources.
