ACTIVITY TITLE
Gesundheitssystemstärkung - Sexuelle und Reproduktive Gesundheit und Rechte II
The projecte is the second phase of the project "Health System Strengthening - Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Togo" (BMZ no. 2015 68 427), which has been implemented in the Kara region since May 2018. Healthcare provision for the population, particularly in rural areas, is precarious. The chronic underfunding and vulnerability of the Togolese healthcare system is particularly evident in the area of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Maternal mortality and neonatal mortality are still far above the national development goal for 2022. The FC programme addresses this problem. By strengthening the health system, particularly in the area of SRHR, a contribution is made to improving maternal and newborn health. The aim of the FC programme is to improve access, use and quality of health services and to increase demand. The focus is on improving basic and emergency care in obstetrics. In the programme, rural health facilities and district hospitals are to be renovated, expanded and equipped with medical equipment (component 1). Targeted investment-related training and communication measures (components 2 and 3) support quality improvement and the creation of demand. The family planning services in the communities are also supported and expanded. The project executing agency is the Togolese Ministry of Health, Public Health and Universal Access to Health Care (MSHPAUS). The target group of the second phase of the programme continues to be the rural and predominantly poor population in the Kara region, particularly women of childbearing age and newborns. With a total financing volume of EUR 8 million, the second phase of the programme can be implemented over a period of 2 to 3 years.

General
