Das Vorhaben wird den Netzanschluss von Gemeinden entlang der bestehenden Stromleitungen finanzieren. Konkret werden Investitionen in Mittel- und Niederspan-nungsleitungen sowie Transformatoren und Haushaltsanschlüsse inklusive Stromzähler bezuschusst. Mit dem Vorhaben sollen sowohl private Haushalte als auch Einzelhandelsgeschäfte, kleinere Unternehmen und staatliche Einrichtungen wie Schulen und Krankenhäuser erreicht werden. Ziel des Vorhabens ist die Verbesserung des Zugangs und der Nutzung von Elektrizität in ländlichen und peri-urbanen Gebieten. Durch die Substitution alternativer Energieformen wie Diesel und Paraffin wird ein Beitrag zur Klimaminderung geleistet, da in Uganda 92% der Elektrizität aus erneuerbaren Quellen erzeugt wird. Für das Vorhaben steht ein Zuschuss von 10 Mio. Euro zur Verfügung. Angesichts des enormen Finanzierungsbedarfs für Elektrifizierungsvorhaben hat die ugandische Regierung darum gebeten, zusätzliche Mittel für das Netzverdichtungsprogramm zur Verfügung zu stellen.
The project finances the grid connection of communities along existing power lines. Investments in medium and low-voltage lines, transformers and household connections, including meters, are being funded. The project is intended to reach private households as well as small businesses, retailers and public institutions such as schools and hospitals. The aim of the project is to improve access to and use of electricity in rural and peri-urban areas. By substituting alternative forms of energy such as diesel and kerosene, a contribution is made to climate mitigation, as 92% of electricity in Uganda is generated from renewable sources. A grant of EUR 10 million is available for the project.
