Ce projet vise à renforcer la résilience aux changements climatiques des peuples Autochtones en Bolivie, en Colombie, au Guatemala et au Pérou en respectant les droits des Autochtones et en favorisant l’autodétermination. Les activités de ce projet comprennent : 1) octroyer des sous-subventions (65 % du financement) à des projets réalisés conjointement par des Autochtones du Canada et de pays en développement qui mettent l’accent sur des solutions fondées sur la nature, adaptées au genre et visant à s’adapter aux changements climatiques; 2) créer un comité de direction Autochtone et un cercle de la sagesse et du savoir Autochtones pour orienter la sélection et le soutien des projets; 3) organiser des séances de renforcement des capacités et des espaces d’échange de connaissances, notamment un forum régional portant sur l’intendance des terres Autochtones, les lois traditionnelles et les méthodes juridiques; 4) mettre en place des mécanismes favorisant la participation des Autochtones aux processus et aux organes décisionnels, aux réformes stratégiques, à la lutte contre les changements climatiques et aux initiatives visant à adopter des solutions fondées sur la nature. Le partenaire local du projet est l’Organisation nationale des femmes Autochtones andines et amazoniennes du Pérou (ONAMIAP), un membre coordinateur du Réseau continental des femmes Autochtones des Amériques (ECMIA-SUR). En outre, parmi les organisations Autochtones nationales qui contribueront au projet figurent l’Organisation nationale Autochtone de Colombie (Organización Nacional Indígena de Colombia – ONIC), la Confédération nationale des femmes Autochtones de Bolivie (Confederación Nacional de Mujeres Indígenas de Bolivia – CNAMIB), la Coordonnatrice des organisations communautaires de femmes du Guatemala (Coordinadora de Organizaciones Comunitarias de Mujeres), la Coordinatrice nationale des veuves du Guatemala (Coordinadora Nacional de Viudas de Guatemala – CONAVIGUA) et le Grand conseil des autorités ancestrales des Chorti (Gran Consejo de Autoridades Ancestrales del Pueblo Chortí).
This project aims to improve the climate resilience of Indigenous Peoples in Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, and Peru by affirming Indigenous rights and enabling self-determination. Project activities include: (1) providing sub-grants (65% of funding) to projects co-implemented by Indigenous Peoples in Canada and in developing countries. that focus on gender-responsive nature-based solutions projects for climate adaptation; (2) establishing an Indigenous Steering Group and Indigenous Wisdom and Knowledge Circle to guide project selection and support; (3) organizing capacity-bridging sessions and knowledge exchange spaces, including a regional forum conducted on Indigenous land-based stewardship, traditional laws, and legal approaches; and (4) creating mechanisms for Indigenous participation in decision-making processes and bodies, policy reforms, climate action, and nature-based solutions initiatives. The local partner is the National Organization of Indigenous Andean and Amazonian Women of Peru (ONAMIAP), which is a coordinator and member of the Continental Network of Indigenous Women of the Americas (ECMIA-SUR). In addition, input from several National Indigenous Organizations will be included, such as the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (Organización Nacional Indígena de Colombia – ONIC), the National Confederation of Indigenous Women of Bolivia (Confederación Nacional de Mujeres Indígenas de Bolivia – CNAMIB), the Coordinator of Women's Community Organizations (Coordinadora de Organizaciones Comunitarias de Mujeres – COMAM-GUATEMALA), the National Coordinating Committee of Widows of Guatemala (Coordinadora Nacional de Viudas de Guatemala – CONAVIGUA) and the Grand Council of Ancestral Authorities of the Ch'orti People (Gran Consejo de Autoridades Ancestrales del Pueblo Chortí).

Les résultats escomptés de ce projet comprennent : 1) adoption accrue de solutions fondées sur la nature, inclusives, adaptées au genre et favorisant l’autodétermination par les collectivités et les organisations Autochtones, notamment les femmes et les jeunes, afin de s’adapter aux changements climatiques tout en procurant des avantages connexes pour la biodiversité; 2) renforcement de la gouvernance climatique au sein d’une variété de collectivités, d’organisations et de réseaux locaux et régionaux Autochtones pour favoriser l’adaptation aux changements climatiques grâce à des solutions fondées sur la nature et respectueuses des droits des Autochtones; 3) amélioration des mesures conjointes et de l’échange des connaissances entre les bénéficiaires des sous-subventions du Nord et du Sud et leurs collectivités, notamment les femmes et les jeunes, afin de promouvoir des solutions fondées sur la nature, adaptées au genre et respectueuses des droits des Autochtones.
The expected outcomes of this project include: (1) increased adoption of self-determined, gender-responsive, and inclusive nature-based solutions by Indigenous communities and organizations, particularly women and youth, for climate change adaptation with biodiversity co-benefits; (2) strengthened climate governance within diverse Indigenous communities, organizations, local and regional networks for Indigenous-rights-affirming nature-positive climate adaptation; and (3) increased joint action and knowledge-sharing between North and South sub-grantees and their communities, particularly women and youth to promote gender-responsive, Indigenous-rights-affirming nature-based solutions.
