Ce projet vise à aider les îles Fidji à préparer et à diriger la présidence de la 23e Conférence des parties de la Convention-cadre des Nation Unies sur les changements climatiques, connue sous le nom de COP23. Ce projet a été conçu pour renforcer les efforts visant à intégrer les préoccupations et les priorités des îles du Pacifique et pour aider Fidji à mettre en place une présidence forte pour la COP23 et une équipe nationale forte en matière de changements climatiques. Les activités de ce projet comprennent : (1) aider la présidence fidjienne à mener un dialogue de facilitation entre les parties en 2018 en développant des informations pertinentes pour la région et en aidant à la préparation technique du dialogue; (2) promouvoir l’éducation et la sensibilisation des jeunes en soutenant un Forum mondial de la jeunesse organisé à Bonn en mai 2018, autour de la session de la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques; (3) dispenser une formation à l’équipe nationale fidjienne de négociation sur climat sur chacun des points de l’Accord de Paris; et (4) renforcer la prise de conscience des liens entre le changement climatique et l’égalité des genres.
This project aims to assist Fiji in the preparation for and the conduct of the Presidency of the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), known as COP23. It is designed to enhance efforts to integrate Pacific Islands’ concerns and priorities as well as help build a strong Fijian COP23 Presidency and national climate change team. Project activities include: (1) supporting Fijian Presidency to deliver a successful Facilitative Dialogue among Parties in 2018 by developing information relevant for the region and supporting participation in the technical part of the Dialogue; (2) promoting education and awareness of youth through support for a Global Youth Forum around the May 2018 Bonn session of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); (3) providing training to Fijian National Climate Negotiations Team on each of the Paris Agreement agenda items; and (4) increasing awareness of the linkages between climate change and gender equality.

The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) promoting full engagement of Fiji in the development and implementation of the Facilitative Dialogue and the Climate Action Pacific Partnership Conference; and (2) supporting Fiji National Climate Negotiations Team to effectively negotiate informed climate actions and advocate for gender equality.
