Le projet vise l’élimination des articles explosifs dangereux dans les collectivités de Ninive, en Irak, afin d’accroître la sécurité des civils touchés par Daech. Le but est de contribuer à la protection des personnes déplacées à l’intérieur du territoire, de celles qui rentrent dans leur communauté et des intervenants en matière de stabilisation. Pour ce faire, des équipes de neutralisation et des équipes canines seront déployées afin qu’elles détectent les restes explosifs de guerre dans les zones touchées.
This project aims to remove dangerous explosive items from communities in Ninewah, Iraq to enhance the security of civilians affected by Daesh. The goal is to support the protection of internally displaced persons, returning populations and stabilization actors. This is accomplished through the deployment of clearance teams as well as dog teams to detect explosive remnants of war in affected areas.

Les résultats attendus du projet sont les suivants : 1) accès amélioré des personnes déplacées et des intervenants en matière de stabilisation aux lieux habitables et économiquement productifs situés dans les zones de Ninive libérées de l’emprise de Daech; 2) risque moindre posé par les mines terrestres improvisées, pièges et autres dangers liés aux explosifs pour les personnes déplacées, y compris les femmes et les enfants, à Ninive.
The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased access to habitable and economically productive zones for displaced persons and stabilization actors in areas of Ninewah liberated from Daesh; and (2) decreased risk posed by improvised landmines, booby traps and other explosive hazards to displaced persons, including women and children, in Ninewah.

Parmi les résultats obtenus jusqu'en mars 2022 : 1) déminage de 2 616 746 mètres carrés de terrain précédemment contaminés par des engins explosifs; 2) découverte et élimination de 414 pièges et mines terrestres improvisées et de 493 pièces d’artillerie non explosées. Ces résultats ont permis de donner aux personnes déplacées et aux acteurs de la stabilisation un accès plus sûr aux zones habitables et économiquement productives dans les régions ciblées.
Results achieved as of March 2022 include: (1) the clearance of 2,616,746 square meters of land previously contaminated by explosive hazards; and (2) the discovery and removal of 414 improvised landmines and booby traps, and 493 unexploded ordnance items. These outputs have increased safe access to habitable and economically productive zones for displaced persons and stabilization actors in the targeted areas.
